Dotwork and Geometry.

Another trending style of tattooing is the geometric and dotwork tattoos. Combining tessellated patterns and geometric shapes with shading compiled of hundreds of tiny dots, these pieces are executed with precision and are bound to impress.

While this style can either be incredibly symmetrical or abstract in its design, the style of shading always creates dimension and texture that is difficult to achieve. We are fortunate enough to have multiple artists who enjoy working in this style, in particular Allan and Sanni who both handle a lot of this work as their specialties.

The pieces can be simple black and grey, or can have colour implemented into them, and can often be complimented with watercolour techniques, accentuating the shading of the dots and accompanying the design’s abstract feel.

More and more over time we are seeing mandalas, geometry, and tessellated patterns coming out from artists all over the world who are executing new and unique designs daily, this is a style of work that can be as extravagant or as minimalistic as you want, meaning it offers tattooing to virtually anyone, even those only looking for smaller pieces or their first tattoo to test the water, so to speak.

Maybe this is the style you’ve been looking for! If you want to discuss it more or meet up with one of our artists to see some more of their work or designs, don’t hesitate to contact us at the studio or pop your head in to say hi, we are always looking for new friends to tattoo!
