Mandalas A classic spiritual tattoo

Yet another trending tattoo you can see everywhere lately is the Mandala. A Mandala is classically a spiritual or ritualistic symbol in Indian religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism that can represent the universe or an inner truth about you and your surrounding world. Generally circular in design, they can be simple or complicated patterns that maintain symmetry and can be built of a combination of lines, dot-work, or tessellated shapes.

These designs can be personalized with heavy meaning, or can be simply aesthetically and visually pleasing. Their basic format usually involves a square with 4 gates that contain a circle with a centre point, but as designs have progressed and evolved, they have stepped outside of these boundaries and are varying and unique in design and style.

Our primary mandala artists are Sanni and Allan, and both of them are constantly looking to step outside their boundaries with innovative and beautiful designs. Incorporating dot-work and geometry into the generic Mandala format allows them to create new and refreshing takes on a design classic.

Mandalas open another door to tattoo clients who may have prior perspectives of tattoos being unattractive or offensive, these designs are delicate and beautiful, and can be as subtle or as loud as the client decides. You can incorporate colours or simple blacks and greys, and they can be placed in private or obvious areas. We are always taking new clients for this type of work, come and be the next one!
